I had this phase where I would read amateur books by aspiring writers and take note of the little things that upset me, see if I did them, and if I did, work on eliminating it from my work. I read this one book years ago and I hated it, way too conventional, stretched too thin, not enough vocab, but I guess the character development was good. Apparently, the 17 year old writer’s now been signed by Random House for three novels, the one I read being her first one. I feel like I was friends with a celebrity before they became famous.

There’s a difference between criticizing someone and educating them, recognize it.

my mom found one of my notes to myself and it read, ‘pick up print. it’s important. okay love you. have a beautiful day <3’, and she literally died of laughter. she was all wow is this how you talk to yourself. you iz funny. and then she told me that when she sends herself emails with important files, she opens up with ‘hey pretty lady’ so apparently this flattery thing runs in the family.
